Frequently Asked Questions
  • Will I turn orange? No
After trial and error (with some very willing friends) with many different solutions, you can rest assured there will be no pumpkin orange!

  • Do I HAVE TO be naked? No (unless you want to be!)
You can wear whatever you're comfortable in and if that means nothing that is ok too.

  • Will my hair color change? No.
Extra care will be taken to avoid your hair, but for extra caution hair nets are available.

  • Will it leave a mess in my house? No
You will be standing in a portable tent during the spray tan process. Apart from your new glow, there will be no trace of us!

  • Can I still work out? Yes.
Excessive sweat, chlorine, oils, and exfoliating will reduce the life of your tan. So whilst your tan certainly will not physically stop you from doing anything just be prepared to have a shorter tan life following the items mentioned above.

  • How soon can I shower?
It is advised to wait at least 6-8 hours* before showering, this gives the tan enough time to develop. Note that keeping the solution on beyond 8 hours will not make you any darker. Solution is designed to develop to optimum color and nothing will happen beyond that. * Rapid tan can be showered off sooner.

  • Will it stain my clothes/furniture/bedding?
Whilst the tan is developing it is advised to wear loose dark clothing following your spray tan. Tight clothing can rub the solution off before it has been able to fully develop which could lead to an uneven tan. If left to develop overnight color may transfer to your bedsheets. Light-colored fabrics may be temporarily stained with the solution but will easily be removed in the wash.

  • How long will it last? Approximately 7 days
Just like with a real sun tan, the length of your spray tan depends on how you choose to maintain the tan. Follow this Preparation and Aftercare Advice to prolong the life of your tan.

  • How long does the appointment take? Please allow 30mins
This includes set up, preparation, tanning, and clearing up as well as time to answer any questions you may have.

  • I am pregnant can I still get a spray tan?
The solution is safe for expecting mothers, but it is recommended to seek your doctor’s advice, particularly in the first trimester of pregnancy. A list of ingredients is available if you would like to run them by your doctor.

  • Can I still sun tan? Yes
PLEASE ensure that you still wear SPF, our solution does not protect you from harmful UV rays.

  • What if I am already tanned / brown-skinned?
Whether you are naturally tanned or already slightly suntanned it is absolutely possible to gain more color; everyone looks better with a glow!

  • Is it safe for my skin? Yes. Sunless tanning is the safest tan you will ever experience!
DHA (the active ingredient) lays on the outermost layer of the skin and does not absorb into the bloodstream and poses no possibility of toxicity. A list of ingredients can be provided upon request.

  • How does it work?
The active ingredient in the spray Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outermost layer of your skin. This reaction causes the color on the skin to change producing a beautiful natural tan.

  • I have asthma, is it safe for me to get a spray tan?
If you suffer from any respiratory problems please consult with your doctor before booking a spray tan.

  • Does it have a bad odor? No.
Careful consideration has gone into this and the solutions used all smell great.

  • Can you customize the color?
Depending on the depth of tan you want along with your natural skin tone, we will work together to achieve your customized shade.

  • Is any maintenance suggested to make it last longer? Yes.
Please see this Preparation and Aftercare Advice section.

  • How do I avoid my hands and feet being so splotchy?
A barrier lotion will be applied to these culprit areas prone to this. The barrier lotion will not entirely stop you from tanning but will help avoid this problem.

  • What if I am in a pool?
Repeated exposure to chlorine will reduce the life of your tan but your tan will NOT start to run into the pool.

  • How often should I spray?
This entirely depends on you. You can expect your tan to last for about a week. If you wish to maintain a consistent glow then every 7-10 days would be recommended. Whereas some people simply opt to have a spray tan for a special occasion.

  • How many sessions until you start seeing results?
Results are immediate, you will be tan after your first session. Spray tanning is not something that you need to work on for gradual results.

  • What kinds of clothes do you recommend wearing after?
Please wear loose, dark clothing after your tan. Solution which is transferred onto clothing is typically machine washable.

  • Are there any risks to my skin?
Spray tanning is accomplished by the application of a solution containing the active ingredient: DHA (Dihydroxyacetone). DHA is considered to be safe and has been FDA-approved. DHA will NOT be absorbed into the bloodstream and poses no possibility of toxicity. However, if you have any particular skin concerns that could be affected by spray tanning we strongly recommend consulting with your doctor prior to treatment. This includes but is not limited to eczema, psoriasis, known allergies, open wounds, recent tattoos or piercings, Botox/fillers.

  • How do I prepare for my tanning appointment?
Please read Preparation and Aftercare Advice section.

  • What should I expect during the appointment?
Upon our arrival, you will have an initial consultation to establish your tanning requirements and have a chance to ask any questions you may have. Together we will decide on a convenient and well-lit area to open up the portable tent. You will remove your clothes (to your comfort level) and stand inside the tent. A spray gun will be used to apply a light mist (a combination of air and tanning solution) directly to your skin. Once the solution has dried you will be able to redress. We will pack up and be out of your way. Please allow up to 30 mins for your appointment.

  • How does it work?
Spray tanning is accomplished by the application of a solution containing the active ingredient: DHA (Dihydroxyacetone). DHA causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outermost layer of the skin.  This reaction causes the color of the skin to change, producing a beautifully natural tan. We use a HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray tanning system which improves the quality of the spray tan and dramatically decreases the tanning time.

  • Can a spray tan be removed?
The color produced by a tan does not wash off; it simply fades as the upper layers of the epidermis wear away. If for any reason you wish to reduce the life of your tan try applying baby oil. Exfoliation using a loofah will also help to speed up the process. Please do not over-scrub as this can cause damage to your skin. You can also try swimming as chlorine will also reduce tan life!

  • What happens if I inhale the tanning solution?
While no one should purposely inhale or ingest the tan mist, it is known that DHA is a non-hazardous compound and causes no adverse reaction in moderate quantities when applied topically or even ingested. Testing has further shown that DHA is less toxic than aspirin, caffeine, and even common table salt.

  • What is the advantage of Spray Tanning over other tanning methods?
    - Spray tanning is safe for your skin. Tanning beds and excess sun exposure cause considerable damage to your skin; often resulting in signs of early aging not to mention the major health risks that they pose.
    - Given the fact that we are mobile the whole process takes considerably less time to get your tan on!

    - No tan lines! Spray tanning can achieve an even glow.
